Rescue-versary!

Me furry furry happy!

Rescue-versary

A wonderful day indeed

I have come so far!

Woooohooowooooooo Efurrybuddy! Today and tomorrow are furry special days fur me. You see, it was four years ago today that a pack of strange humans came to see me and my pack of nearly 170 Alaskan Malamutes at a puppy mill in Alaska. They were shocked by what they found – no food, no water, all the snow eaten that we could reach from our four-foot chains, and sadly some deceased members of my pack. The next day on 1-11-11, they came back, removed us from our chains, and took us to a shelter to help us get medical care, food, water, and hopefully real homes!

The dogters in Alaska thought I was about 2 years old based on my teeth and only weighed 35 lbs! Today I weigh about 85 lbs. (depending on how often I gets BACON! and TURKEY! WOL!). My furs are no longer brittle and dry, but super duper fluff, fluff, fluff. I have come a furry long way in the past four years, especially when it comes to being social with strange humans. Nobuddy would know now that I was “like a feral wolf” as my Mama says. It is Mama’s magical healing wuvwuvwuv that helped to heal so much!

Kuruk-_The_Little_Be_Cover_for_KindleI tell the full story of my healing journey in my bookie: Kuruk: The Little Bear That Could, One Rescue Pup’s Journey of Healing. The purpose of my book about the story of my rescue is to raise awareness about puppy mills and animal abuse.

You can order it through Create Space or Amazon (including eBook!) or Barnes & Noble or by clicking the picture of my book cover! Also: Amazon CanadaAmazon UKAmazon India, and other international Amazon stores.

Did you know I was in a video about my rescue? Check it out below. Pawesome music tooowoowooo!

Now sales have still been furry slow still, but Me and Mama have decided that we will make a donation of 100% of the proceeds since our first and last donation to see if that helps get things going. We already know that this time we are going to donate to Wolf Haven International (see their bloggy here!) where I have an adopted wolf brother named Nanuk (that means “bear” toowoowoooo just like Kuruk and Nalle!). If you want to help them out directly, you can also go to their website and adopt your own wolf! Wooooowoooooooooo!

Me not long after my rescue – still skinny but happy and FREE!

Soon will be the day

That I was given freedom

And a new birthday!

Wooooohooooowooooo Efurryone! In about a week on January 11th I will celebrate my re-birthday! No one knows my actual birthday, so Mama chose the day of my puppy mill rescue (1-11-11) as my re-birthday! The dogters said I was about two (and only 35 pounds! I’m 90 pounds now!), but Mama made that day my first re-birthday. So I will  be 4 according to Mama, but maybe really about 5. I’ll go with the younger age because I am a happy happy pup! Woooooooowooooooooo!

If you’d like to read the whole story of my rescue and healing journey, and help support animal rescue, check out my book!

Tattooed Memories…

photo-2

Me thinking about my puppyhood memories

I have no tattoos

Just permanent memories

Of puppy mill life

Daily Prompt: Permanent

Dear furriends, please do not worry. I am very happy and do not dwell on the past. I do write about my puppy mill experience because my goal is to raise awareness about animal welfare. Also sometimes the daily prompts prompt me to compose a haiku about sad memories, so please do not be concerned for me. Be concerned for all the animals out there who need love. If you’d like to help me help others, you can purchase my book: Kuruk the Little Bear That Could: One Rescue Pup’s Journey of Healing. The proceeds go to help animal rescue and welfare!

Happy happy December! Woooooowoooooooo!

Wooohooowooooo! I’m so excited! I finally convinced Mama that I should have my own Facebook page. She thought four blogs, Facebook, and Twitter were enough secretary work, but I kept begging asking nicely, and she caved said Yes! You can visit my new Facebook page here. It was through the magical world of Facebook and all the pawesome snow pup people and pages that I found my littermate brother from the puppy mill in Alaska!!! His daddy said he is doing very well and is a happy happy pup, just like me! Wooooooohooooooowooooooooooo!

If you haven’t seen on it my About Page already, you can view the video about our journey from Alaska to Seattle here!
