Wooohooowoooooo Efurrybuddy! Today is my re-birthday! To find out why it’s re-birthday, check out my post from last year’s re-birthday where I talks about my birthday hike and the story of my rescue from a puppy mill and healing journey.
This year I gots to go on a date with my Mama (no furblings!) to Whole Foods fur a bacon and egg special birthday breakfast! Yumwumwumwumwum! Thank youwooowooooooo Mama!
Wooohoooowooooooooo Efurrybuddy! Me and sisfur Nalle and Mamaclickyfingerssecretary were too busy on a hiking adventure to bloggy about this sooner, but two days ago on 1-11 I had my Re-Birthday and Rescueversary! Wooooooooowoooooooooooo! Fur those who do not know my past:
One cold Alaska day five years ago, some strange humans came to see me and my pack of nearly 170 Alaskan Malamutes at a puppy mill in Alaska. They were shocked by what they found – no food, no water, all the snow eaten that we could reach from our four-foot chains, and sadly some deceased members of my pack. The next day on 1-11-11, they came back, removed us from our chains, and took us to a shelter to help us get medical care, food, water, and hopefully real homes! They were true angels that came on that angelic number day!
The dogters in Alaska thought I was about 2 years old based on my teeth and only weighed 35 lbs! Today I weigh about 85 lbs. My furs are no longer brittle and dry, but super duper fluff, fluff, fluff. I have come a furry long way in the past five years, especially when it comes to being social with strange humans. Nobuddy would know now that I was “like a feral wolf” as my Mama says. It is Mama’s magical healing wuvwuvwuv that helped to heal so much!
Me in 2011 after my rescue when I was in foster care.
I have moved from Alaska to Washington to Northern California, and now I live in Southern California in a place where I can go to the beach or hike in the mountains efurryday! Wooooowooooooooo! Here are some piccie from our our new home and latest adventures, but scroll through my bloggy to see more or follow Mama’s Instagram here (where she sometimes often posts piccies of Me and Nalle)!
I can see beauwoowooooootiful sunrises efurry morning from my bedroom window! That bright star is Venus, the morning star!
I can take Mama and sisfur Nalle to some trails right from our front door, and we’ve discovered a couple of fairy light bridges like this one!
Some mornings we go to the beach. I wuvwuvwuvs the sandy beaches!
It’s pawfect fur digging fur buried treasure!
There are lost of cooowoowoool rocks here!
I’m sure I saw a gnome scurry inside this little cave!
Some days we go to the doggie park, and I’ve been making some new furriends!
A furry pretty tree at the doggie park.
Fur my Re-Birthday I took Mama and sisfur Nalle on a new hike. I am a most pawesome trail guide, so I always lead the pack!
Luckily we got some good rains here in California, so some of the hike was lush and green!
As we climbed up and up and up, it got more like a desert. Don’t worries, Mama brings water fur us!
Someone left me this secret message.
We saw this beauwooowooootiful black bark tree!
That’s all fur now. Me and Nalle gotta plan our next hiking adventure!
In the meantime you can watch this video about my rescue. It has pawesome music toowooowoooo!
The paperback is only $5.99 and the ebook is only .99!
I am on sabbatical from the bloggyworld to focus on getting my busier and busier Mamaclickyfingerssecretary to plan more fun adventures fur me and sisfur Nalle. I may poke around on my Facebookie occasionally though, and you can still message me there.
Woooohooowooooooo Efurrybuddy! Today and tomorrow are furry special days fur me. You see, it was four years ago today that a pack of strange humans came to see me and my pack of nearly 170 Alaskan Malamutes at a puppy mill in Alaska.
The dogters in Alaska thought I was about 2 years old based on my teeth and only weighed 35 lbs! Today I weigh about 85 lbs. (depending on how often I gets BACON! and TURKEY! WOL!). My furs are no longer brittle and dry, but super duper fluff, fluff, fluff. I have come a furry long way in the past four years, especially when it comes to being social with strange humans. Nobuddy would know now that I was “like a feral wolf” as my Mama says. It is Mama’s magical healing wuvwuvwuv that helped to heal so much!
I tell the full story of my healing journey in my bookie: Kuruk: The Little Bear That Could, One Rescue Pup’s Journey of Healing. The purpose of my book about the story of my rescue is to raise awareness about puppy mills and animal abuse.
Kuruk: The Little Bear That Could by Ku (that’s Me!):
One rescue pup’s story about his healing journey across three thousand miles, beginning with his days on a chain in a puppy mill in Alaska, across the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, into the loving arms of his Mama, and down the coast with his pack to California. A journey filled with sadness, fear, worry, and anxiety, but through it all and with the love and support of humans and other rescue pups, he knew he could do it!
The purpose of my book about the story of my rescue is to raise awareness about puppy mills and animal abuse.
My book is not too long, includes some haiku, and it is written suitably for the reading pleasure of both children and adults. Please help support our cause!
Feel free to re-blog and help spread the word. All is greatly appreciated!
Thank yooowooowoooooo and Merry Christmas! Ku

And now fur our Haiku Jam! We chose the theme of PLAY! Mine are in purple, of course, and Crepes’ are pretty in pink…
Snow pup wrestle-ing My favorite kind of play
Me master wrestler
I like to eat bees.
MomFOD says I shouldn’t, though.
Her eyes turned, I strike.
Nalle catches flies
But I play with my spider
Stuffy squeaky toy
This morning, a moth.
Tomorrow, I’ll get that fly.
Also, I hunt string.
Strings are not fur me
Giant ropes to shred are fun
Chew toys to destroy
I like boxes, too. I’ll take your chew toy boxes
And sit inside them.
I sit on my beds
But Nalle likes to chew them
And sometimes gut them
Gutting is best done
On things that contain catnip
And also on trout.
Now we’re talkin’ fish
Playtime done, now time fur treats
Sardines fur me please!
I will eat sardines
And then I will nap all day
With my dog friend Ku.

Woooohooowoooooo Efurrybuddy! Yesterday Me and Sisfur Nalle took Mama to the Doggie Fest and we tired Mama out! It was a 2 mile walk to the park where the pawty was. There were lots of doggies there of course, and lots and lots of different kinds of treats, and food samples, and puppy stuff, and people to meet! If I had a pawty, it would be like this was! Woooowoooooooo!
There were lots of puppies there fur adoption and rescue too!
And snow pups needing loving homes
Mama woke me up from my nap afterwards to give me the pink tennis balls we got!
Hi Efurrybuddy, Me and Mama have been having serious discussions. You see, we are overly giving souls, and have spent hundreds of hours blogging, emailing, going places, and talking to people to market and promote my book to raise awareness and money to donate to animal rescue. We thank those who have bought my book and who have tweeted, re-blogged, etc.!!!
However, sales are so so so so slow (only 7 so far in the last 3 months – and we did print-on-demand self-publishing so royalties are $2 or less per book) that we are considering shutting down. Though we need the money, we have committed to donating 50% of sales. We made our first donation before even covering costs, which we have now just barely done. I told Mama that if this is not going anywhere then we could stop so she could spend more time looking for income and building her spiritual counseling practice (Astrology and Tarot/Oracle Readings – she is furry furry good!), which she juggles around caring fur the Grandma who has Alzheimer’s and doing all the housekeeping fur the Grand Paw.
Sorry fur the sad-ish post, but we are feeling furry discouraged lately and need to re-assess efurrything so that we do not go hungry (this is not an exaggeration either).
Wooooohoooowooooo Efurrybuddy! Today I am a lucky star!!! Many of you already know that I wrote my book, Kuruk: The Little Bear That Could, about my rescue and healing journey to raise awareness and money fur animal rescue. Well today, me and my book became famous when Mama did an interview fur me on Paws To Talk!!!
You can listen to the Podcast Here! It begins at 8:10, and it is pawesome!!! Give it five lucky stars pawlease!
The last Blog the Change, I announced my first donation to the Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League (WAMAL). They are the pawesome people who flew me from Alaska to Seattle, where my Mama found me! Since then I have only sold a few books, and I only make maybe a couple dollars per book sale, so no new donation yet. Me and Mama are working on other ways to market my book, but if you can help us out by spreading the word – through Facebook, Twitter, or other social network – we, and all animals in need would very very much appreciate it! Thank youwoooowoooooooooooooooo!
Woooooohoooooowoooooooo Efurrybuddy! It’s my re-Birthday! In case you don’t know my story, here’s the lovely tribute sisfur Zoe at Swami Zoe’s Yoga and Zen wrote fur me:
Me-Ommmmm Efurryone! I’m so excited to tell efurryone that Saturday the 11th is my little brofur Kuruk’s re-Birthday! Yes, you read that right. You see, Ku was born at a puppy mill in Alaska and lived on a 4-foot chain his first couple of years of life. Luckily the puppy mill was shut down and Ku and his whole pack of nearly 160 snow pups went into rescue. That day was 1-11-11! When Mama brought Ku home, she decided that since no one knew Ku’s real birthday that 1-11-11 would be Ku’s first re-Birthday! So Ku is going to be 4!!! He’s come such a long long way in the past three years. Me and Mama and efurryone are so so proud of my little brofur Ku! We wuvwuvwuv you Ku!
Me and Nalle got pawesome new big big big beds!
I like the red one!
Nalle likes the green one!
But when it’s beddyby-time at night, I have to sleep on my first red bed next to Mama!
I wish I got to sleep on my new beds more:
Sisfur Zoe uses the beds fur her nearly constant yoga and meditation practice! She is a very dedicated great Swami!
Brofur Apollo hogs the beds too!
But Apollo and Nalle share sometimes! That’s how big big big these new beds are!
And we got more piggy ears! Buddy Bacon and Mini Piggy, please close your eyes for the next few pics!
Yumwumwum piggy ear!
Yumwumwumwumwumwum!
This morning, after Mama turned into the Kissiemonster, we did our usual routine:
Breakfast with extra treats on top!
And our early morning walk. Can you see us? Mama gets up early!!!
It’s supposed to rain today even though California is having a drought. But if it doesn’t, Mama will take us on an extra long hike through pawesome parks and trails around the city. Time fur my morning nap, but before I go, here is the pawesome re-Birthday card I got from my kitty girlfurriend Nylabluewooowoooooo! xoxoxoxoxoxo!
And from the Fozziegang Down Unda! Thank youwoooowooooooo!
Wooooooohooooooowooooooo Efurryone! Yesterday Mama went out to shop fur our food and she stumbled across a most pawesome find! You see, me and Nalle are about 85-90 pounds each, and really fit on extra large beds. Those big beds cost around $100, so Mama has to by us smaller ones on sale, which is ok. But guess what?! Mama found big poofy XL beds fur only $20 each!!! She was so excited about the find that she couldn’t wait until Saturday to give them to us fur my re-Birthday! (Mama gets all silly and excited like that!) 😀 It truly is going to be a pawesome new year! Wooooooooowoooooooooo!
Here is Nalle demonstrating our old beds:
Nalle on our two flat blankets, which she liked to chew on. Bye-bye torn-up blankets! And yes, she sleeps with her tongue out.
Nalle on my first red bed. It fit me when I was much much skinnier, but not anymore. And yes, she sleeps under Mama’s bed and on the wall a lot!
Nalle on the medium-sized brown poofy bed we got last year. We tore a few holes in it playing tug-of-war. Bye-bye brown bed. And yes, Nalle sleeps in all sorts of weird positions with her tongue out.
Here is Brofur Apollo modeling our new big big beds:
Dis bed is vewy comfy! Four paws up!
Kangaroo joey Booo likes the new beds toowoooowoooooo!
And now to see how the new beds fit me and Nalle:
Pawesome fit! I wuvwuvwuv it! I can even spread out and all of me stays on the bed!
Woooooooowoooooooooo! Mama, these beds are the bestest!
Thank you Mama fur the pawesomest new beds! I will keep my first red bed though. I have slept on it efurry night right next to my sleeping Mama. Besides, my new beds won’t fit here. 😀
Me not long after my rescue – still skinny but happy and FREE!
Soon will be the day
That I was given freedom
And a new birthday!
Wooooohooooowooooo Efurryone! In about a week on January 11th I will celebrate my re-birthday! No one knows my actual birthday, so Mama chose the day of my puppy mill rescue (1-11-11) as my re-birthday! The dogters said I was about two (and only 35 pounds! I’m 90 pounds now!), but Mama made that day my first re-birthday. So I will be 4 according to Mama, but maybe really about 5. I’ll go with the younger age because I am a happy happy pup! Woooooooowooooooooo!
If you’d like to read the whole story of my rescue and healing journey, and help support animal rescue, check out my book!
Wooooohooooowoooooo! Happy happy New Year Efurryone! What better way to happy dance off the new year than with many, many thanks to all my bloggy furriends! You are all pawesome! I also have quite a few awards to celebrate!
Thank you to Andrea at Book Reviews and More for The Sisterhood of World Bloggers Award! Now, I am A BOY, but she said since secretary clicky-fingers Mama is a girl, I could accept it. She also gave the award to Mama here.
And Clowie gave me The Inner Peace Award! Thank you, thank you so much sweet Clowie. I hope my efforts to raise awareness about animal rescue and welfare help to bring lots of peace to animals and humans all over the world!
For award nominations, pop on over to Mama’s bloggy: Through the Peacock’s Eyes. She just got tons of awards and made a big big nomination list, which includes all sorts of pawesome bloggies, including pet bloggies!
Happy Happy New Year Efurryone! May it be beauwoooowoooootiful!
